microneedling

Microneedling is a treatment protocol that helps rebuild the epidermis to help minimize acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and help rejuvenate the skin and your complexion.

what is microneedling?

Beth Francis, LE

Microneedling is an amazing treatment protocol that helps rebuild the epidermis to help minimize acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and help rejuvenate the skin and your complexion.

With little down time and incredible results, this is an excellent treatment for anyone wanting to work on their complexion. 90% of subjects in a clinical trial said they would recommend Skin Pen micro needling treatments to friends and family.
If you are currently experiencing active acne, especially with cystic or pustules, we need to treat that first with professional treatments and getting on a strict at home regiment, before we can start treating any scarring.

How does it work?

Microneedling activates 3 key wound phases kicking in collagen production, cell turnover, and many other skin rejuvenation steps that the skin naturally takes to help heal and repair any damage, while also thickening the papillary layer helping to plump up fine lines and wrinkles.

What to expect after a treatment:

After the procedure you are sent home with the Epionce Essential Recovery Kit for optimal healing and results, as well as post care instructions and what to expect within the following 72 hours such as:
-redness
-tightness
-flakines

-the feeling of a slight sunburn/tenderness of the skin.

what is the treatment regimen?

It is recommended to receive a series of treatments of 3-6, 4 weeks apart, depending on desired results and what we are treating. Sometimes alternating with a chemical peel 3 weeks after a needling treatment, again, depending on desired results and what we are treating. These will all be discussed in detail within your first visit and consultation. Packages are available.

If you are prone to fever blisters/cold sores, please take necessary precautions. It is HIGHLY recommended to take an antiviral oral tablet the night before, the night of, and the following day as a safety net for preventative measures. If you do not want to do the prescription route, another recommendation is taking OTC L-Lysine tablet everyday the week of the Microneedling procedure, although this is not as strong. Any trauma to the mouth/lip area can cause a fever blister/cold sore to develop, this does NOT mean one will appear because of the microneedling treatment, but again, HIGHLY recommended to take all necessary preventative measures.

what to avoid the first 72 hours:

-Sweating
-Sun Exposure
-Makeup
-Retinols and Acids such as Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin A, C, and E not within the Essential Recovery Kit
-Swimming
-Any skincare with added fragrance/parfums, synthetic dyes, parabens, sulfates, anti-aging ingredients, hydroquinone, formaldehyde, dimethicone, mineral oils, glycols, or other inflammatory causing ingredients.

*Please stick with the Post Care Kit provided.*
